If your idea of a great seaside break with the kids is spending a week on a run down council estate with fat smokers with millions of sugar fuelled kids running riot, go to Pontins!
I have never been to a "holiday camp" before, let's just say it was far from a pleasant experience.
As we entered our holiday home, the smoke fumes of the previous occupant enveloped us. A cobweb above the shower was proudly decorated with pubic hair. This complemented the mildew around the drain.
The beds, oh my! The sleeping facilities (beds is too far fetched) consisted of two 2 foot wide single divans with 3 inch thick plastic covered springs. The double sofa bed was uncomfortable sofa to sit on. It had a downward slant to the seat which meant you had to brace your feet against the floor, or you fell off. The mattress was even worse. I slept on it one night only and was left with imprints of the springs on my body.
We were supposed to serve 4 days in this hellhole but managed to escape on Wednesday. I have never been so happy to leave a place before. That must be what it feels like to get out of jail.
As we waited at the gate for the Polish guard to open the barrier, I was scared we wouldn't be allowed to leave.

Hi Ken, thanks for your comments. I didn't book my holiday through The Sun, I wish I had - we went half board and it cost £400 for my family of 4 for on a 4 day break to Pontins' Camber Sands.
I'm still waiting for Pontins to refund the cost of the meals we never ate.
They are dragging their Jack Boots haha.
I must say in The Sun's defense that my friend went on one of their holidays and loved every minute of it. It wasn't at Pontins though!

Hi Tapoutqueen,
Thought you might like to see my email to the Sun newspaper.who in all fairness had no control over this affair, and whom i attach no blame what so ever :-
Good afternoon,
First off let me thank you for another £9-50 holiday offer, which i took up
again this weekend..
Now comes the sad part,I paid for my son and his partner and my two
wonderful little granddaughter to spend three nights at Pontins Southport.
Because money being tight they have had no holiday this year at all, well the
break turned into a horror break ,because on arrival they found the most
filthy conditions imaginable, and so complained, and were offered an upgrade for
£70.00 and the room was even worse, which the young people on reception kind
of intimated before they even showed them the room.the staff were not to
blame they were very kind, but one could tell they were fed up with the
complaints.
Now i know this is not the Suns fault, but i would think they should think
twice about offering any holidays at this place again ,while it is in the
condition that it is in.
Today i have been searching the internet and have found so many website with
complaints about Pontins Southport, such as the site below,i only wish i had
searched before they went, this will not put us off using the Sun Holidays
again in the future, but i feel so sad that my family have been put through
this, and as they still have had no holiday this year,,i believe we are going to get
some kind of refund, though that is hardly the point,my little grand
daughters were heartbroken at no being able to stay ,as they have been looking
forward so much to this, its hard to explain to a 4year old and 2 year old that
there holiday is cancelled due to filth.

As I have stated already I attach no blame to the Sun at all,as we know this
is not under your control, only that we feel perhaps you may be interested in
what is happening at this particular site that is being advertised in your
newspaper
I have since had three replys from the Sun they have been in tough with Pontins and i am awaiting some sort of responce from them, more in hope than anything elsebest wishes to you
